6/15: Are you due for a break to just relax and tune out the everyday tasks of your life. If so, “praise and paint” will be hosting a workshop where you have the ability to paint and worship God also! This event will be Saturday from 4:30-7pm at street crafter on 365 S Main St.

Landmark Showcase: Famous abolitionist John Brown’s House

The landmark of the week is the John Brown house. The John Brown House in Akron, Ohio, is a historically significant site where passionate abolitionist John Brown lived from 1844 to 1854. This 19th-century home was basically the hub for Brown's anti-slavery activities, where he planned and strategized with other abolitionists. The house is now preserved and managed by local historical societies that give tours that offer a deeper dive into Brown's life and his fight against slavery. You can explore exhibits featuring personal artifacts, historical documents, and detailed accounts of his abolitionist efforts. When you are here it feels like you are traveling back in time to an era of intense struggle for justice and equality. This site is not only offers a great experience for history enthusiasts, but also the average citizen that just wants to learn more about American history.
Story of the week: Rush Hour Rodeo: The Dramatic Rescue of a Runaway Cow in Akron

On Friday evening, multiple calls were made to the Akron Police Department reporting a cow on the highway in Akron, Ohio, after it fell out of a truck’s trailer. Around 6 p.m., police arrived at the scene on I-77 North near I-76 East, where they found the cow, later named "Miss Houdini," wandering on the highway. Police and firefighters were luckily able to secure her safely in the busy rush hour traffic. The cow skidded on her knees for at least 100 feet after falling from the trailer but luckily has no major injuries from that. Later at around 7:45 p.m., a representative from FOCUS Rescue & Rehabilitation arrived to transport Miss Houdini to their facility in Magadore, where she is now safe and sound. Miss Houdini is now in a safe place with hay and water at the rescue center, while officials work to identify and contact her owner.
