Blossom Music Center near Akron, Ohio, is a unique outdoor amphitheater that opened in 1968 and was designed by architect Peter van Dijk. The venue has a unique fan-shape which seats a whopping 19,000 and has room for 13,500 on the lawn. As the summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra, Blossom hosts an annual summer festival featuring a mix of classical concerts and festivities like fireworks creating a pretty cool experience for attendees. Blossom Music Center has also been a popular place for a wide variety of performances, including rock, pop, country, and jazz concerts, attracting the top artists and bands from around the world. Something that adds to the venues prestige is that it is surrounded by things like hills and forests which makes for a quite unique concert experience. Blossom’s combo of nature, world-class performances, and rich history make it an akron staple and must visit place.

Story of the week: Mass Shooting at Akron Birthday Party Leaves One Dead, 24 Injured

A large birthday party in Akron turned tragic late Saturday night when gunfire erupted, resulting in one death and 24 injuries. The incident occurred between 10 p.m. and midnight after police had initially responded to the gathering of approximately 200 people without making any arrests earlier in the evening.

According to Akron Police Chief Brian Harding, the shooting began as the party resumed later that night. Two handguns were found at the scene, and evidence suggests that some attendees returned fire, though no arrests have been made. A total of 35 shell casings were recovered, and the police have yet to provide a description of the vehicle involved in the suspected drive-by shooting.

Cleveland Clinic Akron General admitted nine patients, with one in critical condition, while Summa Health System hospitals received 15 patients, including another in critical condition. Many others were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

At a press conference, Mayor Shammas Malik expressed his condolences and called for community cooperation to prevent further violence. A $12,500 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest, with contributions from the U.S. Marshals Office and Summit County CrimeStoppers. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward as the investigation continues.
